Post-interview snafu (or not) [#permalink] New post 18 Feb 2010, 21:16
I interviewed at Kellogg this Monday and when I got home, I promptly typed up a nice thank you letter on good quality paper.
Today in the mail, was a nice handwritten card from the interviewer.
My questions are:
Did I screw up in sending a typed letter? Thoughts on damage control (if it's a situation)
Do they send cards to everybody? Or am I just stressing out over nothing at all?

Any info would be nice!

*Slaps forehead*

Getting a nice handwritten card from your interviewer is a sure-fire sign of a ding.

....Just kidding. I would take that as a great sign, not sure what youre worried about. Most interviewers dont even return thank you emails. :)

Yeah, I totally do not get what you're stressing about! I've just sent emails to my interviewers, and have not even a reply in one case. So the handwritten note is obviously better than an email, and an email is obviously better than having no response.

Take a chill-pill.

I honestly believe emails are absolutely fine. In fact, my number one priority with thank-you emails is timeliness; I tend to send them within 24 hours of the interview, if not within a few hours of having come back from it.

While the idea of a nice handwritten message is nice, it may take a couple of days to get to the interviewer. However, a well-worded, concise email is instantaneous :)

And to the OP: dont worry, you're fine !

I am such an idiot....I just realized from this post that I totally biffed and forgot to send a thank you to my most recent interviewer. Immediately following my interview I jumped back into an intense situation at work and I just plum forgot. It was with my first choice school, no less. Besides being uncharacteristically rude, am I damned?

I'd say still send one. Better late than never....

I sent emails to my interviewers (w/in 24 hours or so) and a hand-written thank you card within a few days.

I just got an email from my Anderson (alum) interviewer saying that he was floored by my nice note, and it was the first he has ever received -- He has been doing interviews for a few years. I know they have to submit their comments from the interview long before they will get a card in the mail, but it couldn't hurt if there's any follow-up, or just for good karma :)

luck to all of you.
