Post-MBA career plans!!!! [#permalink] New post 14 Oct 2011, 02:29
Hello,
Here are my stats:
GMAT: 750 (V 40, Q50, AWA 4.5)
GPA: 3.9 (Stevens Institute of Technology) in Computer Engineering
Non-US Citizen
Joined family business (in India) right after graduation. After a year, started my own fashion house (2 years till date) along with my brother.
In the past 8 months or so, the business has kind of stalled, which is why I want my MBA and re-vitalize the business upon returning.
My questions was "will the Adcoms buy my career plan of returning to my business and expanding on it"?
Will they question my intent to leave my business for 2 years and then return to it?
Thanks!!

Hi Anirudh,

No, an admissions team will not question your intention. In fact, many business schools like candidates who will be running their family businesses.

I recommend you read this case study of a family business applicant who was accepted into Harvard Business School:

Hope this was of help.

Cheers,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team

Thank You for the response.
Since I will not be returning to my family business but to my own business which had started 2 years ago, does your answer change? I will be leaving my business for 2 years, but my brother is there to take of it. In that case, is it ok?
thanks a lot in advance!
