I'm getting pre-MBA jitters about post-MBA job opportunities.
Basically, what are the opportunities like for people with no IB experience to get IB jobs after graduating from a one year program? (one year meaning no internship)
How much does it affect your chances as opposed to after attending a 2 year-program???
Hosam,
I think it depends on the quality of the one-year program. Clearly, the internship phase of the two-year program is ideal for career switchers. Even if you don't wind up with the firm you intern with you have some experience under your belt when you hit the job market. This is absent in the one-year program, but if it's a well-ranked program with a strong finance reputation and a good track record of placing people in finance firms, I don't think you have much to worry about. You might want to be especially aggressive in taking advantage of your school's placement office and really pull out all the stops in terms of waging your own job-search campaign over and above the campus recruiting schedule. If you ace your finance-related classes that will help you too.
Good luck,
