$$\frac{1}{2} +\frac{\frac{2}{3} *\frac{3}{8}}{4} - \frac{9}{16} =\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{16}-\frac{9}{16}=\frac{8}{16}+\frac{1}{16}-\frac{9}{16}=0$$.

I love it when you get 0 in the GMAT.

$$1/2 + (2/3)(3/8)(1/4) - 9/16 = 1/2 - 1/16 - 9/16 = 1/2 - 8/16 = 1/2-1/2=0$$
