Hi bulldurham,

I'd like to know a bit more about your overall situation and plans:

1) What Schools have you applied to so far? What Schools have wait-listed you?
2) You seem to think that your GMAT score is the reason why you were wait-listed. Have any of the Programs actually told you that that was the reason?
3) Are you going to be applying to any new Programs during the upcoming Round 1?

Since it's been 8 months since you've taken a FULL-LENGTH CAT, it would make sense to take a NEW CAT sometime soon (perhaps this weekend). We need to get a sense of whether your skills have 'eroded' over time or not.

Hi,

Since we are specialised in math, we can only give you advice on math.
If you have been scoring 44-47 consistently, you can hit at least 49 or above if you study intensively for 3 weeks.
In this case, for DS, you can completely change the method you were using. Plus, if you are ready to learn and adapt Variable approach, you can do it within 3 weeks.

It is better to study DS+PS altogether. However, if you also have to study verbal, it is the best strategy to just focus on DS only and hit 49 in a short period of time. With 40-50 hours of study, you can surely hit 49 or above with us.

Hi Buildurham,

Your 700 means that your problems probably do not involve any basic misunderstanding of the material. Until someone can pinpoint exactly what your weaknesses are, it is difficult to suggest a specific course of study.

Because you have taken such an extended break from your GMAT prep, it may be helpful to take an official practice exam, to get an up-to-date GMAT score.

When taking the exam, try to replicate the test day experience as much as possible: Go to the library instead of taking the test in your house or apartment. Be sure to complete all sections (AWA, IR, Quant, and Verbal). Only take the allotted breaks.

In the meantime, to help diagnose your GMAT quant strengths and weaknesses, I welcome you to take my free 37-question quant diagnostic. After completing the diagnostic, you’ll be provided with a detailed analysis of your proficiency level on all GMAT quant topics as well as an opportunity to discuss your diagnostic results with me or another TTP instructor/coach.

I also have a few additional questions:

1) Which programs waitlisted you last year? Were you able to find out any information regarding why you were waitlisted? Did these schools want to see a higher GMAT score?

2) To what programs are you applying this year?

3) Would you be open to applying for the second round if that meant you could obtain a higher GMAT score?

The answers to these types of question will help us target and address your specific needs and help you avoid laboring over material you have already mastered!
