If the middle-class elderly people are more likely to join organization than are economically disadvantaged elderly people then the statement indirectly strengthen the fact that very few people from economically disadvantaged people join the the organization which raises the seriousness of those organizations commitment to speaking out on behalf of the need of economically disadvantaged elderly people.

A - irrelevant. political climate is nothing to do with the needs of people.
B - irrelevant
C - doesn't matter. irrelevant
D - here the key is the word "organizations". we are talking about many organizations under the sun.
E - this tells us the reason of the exclusive membership of organizations in question. People join these organizations because the purpose of these organizations is to further the economic, political or the social interests of the members. Hence these organizations will do nothing to help people of other sections of the community.

I would agree that it has to be E, because the members would further the interests of the members, who are not economically disadvantaged as they are middle class. Sorry to repeat I just got this one figured out before I read all the posts lol.
