Hi

153. Two week notice being given to employers before leaving a job is the generally accepted protocol.

(A) Two week notice being given to employers before leaving - Wrong, Sounds like Employers are leaving.

(B) Giving notice to employers of two weeks before having to leave - Wrong, sounds like the employers are 2 weeks.

(C) Two week’s notice to give to employers before leaving - Wrong, sounds wordy and does not have a correct flow, two weeks notice to give to, this pharse, does not sound right. Pardon me, i do not know better way to explain..

(D) Giving notice to employers two weeks before leaving - Correct answer, the flow of the sentence is clear and concise.

(E) To give two weeks’ worth of notice before having to leave - Wrong, does not tell, to whom the notice is to be given.

I have slightly different explanation for this problem

Two weeks notice cannot be a protocol but giving two weeks notice can be

A) says two weeks notice itself is a protocol

B) It looks as if notice is given to employers of two weeks
The two weeks is a modifier of notice and should be next to it.

C) Very awkward (sounds terrible) and also has the same problem as that of (A)

D) is correct. Gerund form of the noun is used here.

E) two week notice is more concise than two week's worth of notice
