Just found an interesting book or at least a book with an interesting title: Outsmart the MBA Clones The Alternative Guide to Competitive Strategy, Marketing and Branding (http://www.amazon.com/Outsmart-MBA-Clones-Alternative-Competitive/dp/0978660285/ref=sr_1_1/103-4478036-2138229?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1193643430&sr=8-1) . $40! Released Jan 7th. It is currently sold out on Amazon (I believe I purchased the last copy - sorry), but a very provocative title (at least for me). All reviews on Amazon seem to be positive, so looking forward to reading this one and sharing my impressions. Apparently it only takes 200 pages, twice as short as another book with high reviews I recently purchased(http://www.amazon.com/Winners-Guide-Casino-Gambling-Fourth/dp/0805077650/ref=pd_sim_b_img_2). I will be commenting on both very soon.

If you have a Business Education book you have recently purchased and enjoyed or hated, please post your comments on the forum in this thread!

Great book on strategy for companies in the $50 million to $2 billion range. The Breakthrough Company by Keith McFarland. Think Good to Great for the growing enterprise.

Amazon seems to have some very suspiciously glowing reviews of that book, bb.
Do let us know what you think after you've received and glanced through your copy.

It sounds quite intriguing from the cover.

I can't wait to see what happens if an MBA reads the book. Would it automatically cancel out (MBA and the book)?
:)

I am about half way through the book (sorry it's taking a while, I mostly read on the plane) - it was a very interesting beginning but it kind of got dry. The book is focusing on creating a sustainable competitive advantage by focusing on a non-core differentiation. it does not really have anything to do with MBA's - just as suspected. The author used his own technique and differentiated in the title. It is somewhat funny how he bridges through space to make the MBA connection. Don't want to give too much away yet. I will keep you posted.

Meanwhile, found another book that could proudly stand against Outsmart the MBA clones: Watch Out! We are MBA
http://www.indiaprwire.com/pressrelease ... 037782.htm. Not yet available from Amazon.

To bb -

I am the author of "Outsmart the MBA Clones".

You probably find chapters 7-10 somewhat technical.

Go to chapter 11 and I am sure that you'll enjoy the rest of the book.

Thanks for reading it.

Dan
