2 vessels contain mixture of water and milk in the ratio 1:2 and 2:5. And they are mixed in the ratio of 1:4 whats the ratio of water to milk of the resulting mixture.

I also got water to milk ratio of 31/74.

And for all of you the answer how i got it was:

Let 1:2 be Mixture A
Let 2:5 be mixture B

when we get mix A & B in the ratio 1: 4 lets call the new mixture C

Water in C will be

1/3 * 1/5 + 2/7 * 4/5 ----------- I

Milk in C will be

2/3 * 1/5 + 5/7 * 4/5 ------------ II

so in C water : Milk = I : II
