2^x - 2^x-2 = 3(2^13), what is the value of x?

I got the answer by picking an answer then plugging and chugging. Took me a little over 2 mintues (and I was lucky I picked the right number to work with). Just looking for the quick solution.

2^x = 2^2 * 2^(x-2)
So expression in question should read
2^2 * 2^(x-2) - 2^(x-2) = 3(2^13)
2^(x-2)*3 = 3*2^13
=> x-2 = 13
=> x = 15

the eq can be written as 2^(x-2)[2^2-1] = 3.2^13
x-2 =13
x=15
