2 year Post Graduate course before B-School [#permalink] New post 12 Aug 2012, 08:57
Hi… Schools will often question why an applicant who already has an MBA or the like (let me call it a 'prohibited' degree for a minute!) would like to go for another MBA. Now would a Post Graduate Diploma course in International Business or a Post Graduate Diploma course in Banking & Finance (both distance learning courses), one of which I am planning to take up, fall within the ambit of 'prohibited' or 'questionable'?

Links to both courses –

Is the bone of contention the duration of the course (both courses mentioned above are 2 year courses) or the syllabus of the course when a school may raise such an objection? The first one mentioned above is a management and business oriented course, while the second one is not.

Kindly let me know your views on this at your earliest!!

Hi Mihir,

Its best to check with the admissions staff of your target b-schools, as the 2nd MBA policies differ from school to school. For instance some US b-schools are okay as long as your first MBA is not from the US (Stern), while some programs will accept you if your Post graduate degree is not comparable to an MBA degree (Haas). Some like Duke Fuqua do not accept 2nd MBA applicants.
