Hjort
How about starting a thread for early applicants ..on
1. what can be done now ,as the essays are yet to be released
2. what essays are common in all schools ( Why MBA, Why now, Why school X , Ethical dilemma etc )
3. Community Work-ex --what can be done with out looking like an opportunist
4. Networking with the school/students/alumni etc
5. School selection strategy
6. Visits to Fairs/Info sessions/Schools
Can you please guide/suggest/advise on what best can be done..
I want to utlizse the time now and aim for the early deadlines of few elite schools
Folks...Please add your questions and suggestions
Thanks
Ozie

I think this is an excellent idea- I welcome more input on how we could help early applicants.

This is a great idea...
I am also planning to apply on Sept 2007.
And I am lacking in community work as well as international experience.
I am thinking of appying mainly to schools in Europe. Anybody else interesting in the same?

This is a real cool idea.. What I have begun is:
1) Started an Excel File which documents all the things that we need to do. If someone has a better file great.. I have just made an initial cut at it..
This file is no way complete.. but just a start...
2) I have started looking at a decision that I need to make: whether to give gmat again or not, i.e to improve anything that is missing in my app.
3) Thirdly I have started emailing potential referees to make them aware that something might come in their door soon..
any other ideaS?

I think it would be nice to have a seprate section called Admissions
And then subdivide that based on schools, where we can ask, post, discuss questions specific to the schools.

I like these suggestions. A special area for early applicants makes a lot of sense and there are many themes that extend across different schools. I am somewhat reluctant to have an area for each school- this takes a profound amount of effort and we already have something along these lines. Any thoughts?

I agree hjort.. Having one for each school might be a too much... but we definitely need to have that admissions manager type forum.. where hopefully you can have a more detailed discussion on mba app process, gmat score effect on the app, the gpa effect on app, all the other scenarios that come into play in app process...

Excellent Idea. What I would also suggest is sort of a timeline for people who have already finished with their GMAT. If sombody could summarize the various steps leading to the Application and how best to approach each step, it would be great. I think Ozie has done a great job. Some other important things might be -
1. Letters of Recommendations
2. TOEFL - is it required and for which all schools
Thanks,
Vipin

Vipun,
I have already attached an excel file.. Maybe we can work from that.. and make that a more complete app manager...
What do the rest of the team think?

Some of these things already exist here on GMATClub but it would probably help to make it easier to find.

Can someone tell me when essays are normally out for business schools. Do all business schools release new essays for part time/ full time programs?
