I hope to hang around throughout my time at the GSB yes... Well see, its supposed to be insanely hectic during school, so who knows, but I'll certainly be doing my best to be around. Thanks for the kind words.

Count another one for '08 [#permalink]
27 Mar 2007, 09:49
Hello all:
Yet another profile from the dreaded IT Indian pool
I am yet to take my GMAT. MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins (Part-Time) (GPA 3.66), BS from University of Madras, India (GPA 3.0). About 9 years of work experience with last 2 years as a Team Lead. Have worked in the US and Australia.
Extensive community service experience for over 3 years - Devised Curricula for teaching computer skills to members of at-risk groups, Worked on the ground during the Asian Tsunami of 2004 for well over 6 months helping with reconstruction projects and conducting social surveys, currently raising funds and coordinating education projects in India for a Non-Profit based in the US.
I am worried about my age as I am 32 years now and will be 33 by the time I start applying.
My long term goals are to work for Non-Profits and in Social Entreprenuership. But on a short-term basis I want to work in the area of International Business so as to recoup my MBA investment in the least.
Any advice on suitable schools and how to overcome my age barrier?
Much appreciated,
Karthik

Curious what the applicants to the class of 2010 are upto now.
I am planning to visit some schools in the near future. Other than that, going through the required reading material for MBA apps.

For sake of lost humour, I should point out that I was joking. His commitment to the site is incredible and he really brings a lot to the party.

08ers, I found this nice overview of the process and rankings, etc. Some data is outdated and the content is not a radical breakthrough, but it can help you get some additional data. I don't necessarily subscribe to the thesis that there's a top 5 vs. a top 7, but you can be the judge of that.

Hope it helps. L.

Hi everyone,
I guess it is time to introduce myself. I have been a silent reader of the applications forum, and have learnt so much from so many of you, even before I started the application process. Rhyme, thank you for the detailed post on how to begin the application process.
My profile:
Age 30 (yikes!)
Indian Female
Industry : IT (any surprises there?) Consulting
GMAT: 760
GPA Grad: 3.25
Undergrad: First class with distinction from a state school
Not sure yet if I want to go part time or full time. I want to stay in the IT industry but move towards management, only some of which I am doing now. I am only tempted to apply for full time programs after having been to this site.

Profile:
Asian Female - 25
Work Experience - will be 5+ years in fall 2008
Currently brand marketing manager at top CPG company - history of promotions. Currently leading and managing global brands w/ 100 million Euros annual sales
Undergrad - NYU Stern 3.4 GPA (worked full time during last 2 years of college to fund tuition with no debt at graduation - paid full tuition $30K annually)
GMAT - 700+
Excurricular and others - Lots of mentoring, volunteering, organizing cross country cultural events (groups of 30+) to Asia annually, worked and studied abroad during college, small side consulting business (assist Chinese business to enter the US market)
Since this is a big decision for me, I am applying to only 3-4 schools. If I don't get in, I think I'll just wait another year since it's not worth 2 years of my life and quitting my job (which pays pretty well) to go somewhere that I'm not 100% sure about.
Target schools:
- HBS
- Wharton
- Stanford
- Tuck

yeah seriously. Is it a myth that the're schools outside the top 70? Are Miami, Denver, Pepperdine, Seton Hall and 600-650 gmat scores not real?
