Do we think we have enough of a sample size on this board to know when invites go out?

If only 300 people apply, and about 100 are invited to interview, I imagine we at least hear from 7 people on the board getting an invite, not to mention a few people not yet registered who will come here to ask questions before their interviews.

but like they said: invites are issued between now and all the way up to the admission date, so some that don't hear back next week might still get an invite later on.

I used similar numbers. If we assume only 20 people are here, including lurkers, and that anyone who received an invite would post it, the probability that no one here received an invite is incredibly small: (I assumed independence to simplify, it's fairly close to independent)

$$(\frac{2}{3})^2^0 = .03%$$

We can be 99.97% confident that invites have not been sent out, yet. That's high enough for me to rest easy.

Haha yes! Nice job
This is exactly the type of reply I was expecting from a MIT applicant

I sure hope today is the day; I can’t take much more of this waiting. My productivity at work has dropped because I’m distracted by the anticipation.

Combo you can say that again. Last year, emails went out around 10am and the year before that it appears they were sent closer to 5pm. I sure hope to get an email before 5pm.

It's already 4 PM on the east coast...looking like we might have to wait at least one more day.

I'm imagining all of us in a hospital waiting room, pacing back and forth nervously waiting for either good or bad news...

This has completely thrown me off. I seriously expected invites to come out on wednesday or Friday last year, and when I didnt see them on friday I thought for sure today was the day.

Could there be way more applicants this year and thats why they are taking so long?

I would love to see whats happening in the LGO office right now...

Well the students and some faculty just started the domestic plant trek yesterday so maybe the program staff was tied up with that for the past few days. Hopefully today we hear.

Well, as a re-applicant (previously interviewed and subsequently waitlisted). I received an email January 6th, 2010 for an interview. I don't know what is going to happen this year. I am a little unnerved.

Congratulations and best of luck to you!

I'm wondering now if I grossly underestimated the number of LGO applicants. Doing that calculation may get my mind off of knowing that interviews have been sent out already.

If waiting to hear about an interview is this bad I can only imagine what it is like waiting for the call from Don.

combobreaker,

After the interview I felt like I knocked it out of the park. My interviewer was engaged, talkative, and I felt like I had great speaking points the entire time; we in fact went over time. I thought I was a shoo-in after that interview and after talking with other applicants during the day. The day came when Don was calling folks and he started with last names A through the alphabet. After mine past, I went to dinner with the wife and started to doubt my application and looked for weak points. I received a wait-list letter which means they liked me and I should re-apply. I hoped to get the call off the wait-list but alas, that call didn't come and I was really down as I only applied to that school (I really believe in the program).

I’m also only applying to only this one program, it was the only thing that I could justify leaving my job for two years to do. I hope it works out for you this year, during the ambassador’s day I met three students that were admitted as re-applicants.

Combobreaker, can you share more about your experience on the ambassador day. I missed this great opportunity.

Adding myself to the list of ONLY LGO applicants. No other full time program makes sense to quit work for 2 years.
Let's hope today/tomorrow is the DAY. 12pm PST today is MIT Sloan's round 2 deadline.
Good luck to everyone.

I wonder if the delay in getting the interview invites out will cause the interview fest weekend to be later as well. We could be looking at February 11/12 instead of 4/5, which would be nice for those of us interested in the Super Bowl.

I am a reapplicant as well but did not get a call last year. I sure hope I will get one this time, my application last year was pure excrement. And many things have happened at work since before applying that I applied without really meaning to get into. Some unfinished projects among the things but now they are all completed. I truly feel like this is the year I would like to get into the program.

PriceNation did you not a call from Sloan at least or an admission? did you apply through Engineering or Sloan?
