I. 2x will not be greater than x if x = -ve
II. x^2 will not be greater than x if x= fraction <1
III. x^2 + 1 Will always be greater than x whether x is +ve, -ve or fraction.

C is the only case where this remains true for x as 0, +ve, -ve or fraction
