3 people out of 5 women and 3 men are to be selected to sit on a comittee. How many combinations are there if there is to be at least 1 man???

If at least one M is to be selected .

then there are 3 scenarios


1M 2 W , 2M 1 W , 3M OW

so it will be (3c1 * 5c2 )+ (3c2 * 5c1 ) + (3c3 * 5c0)

= 30 + 15 + 1 =46 different ways

Yes, 46 I got it wrong

is 8c3 - 5c3 or the way ipc did it too

+
mmw 3c2*5c1=3*5 =15
+
mww 3c1*5c2=3*10=30

thus 46
