30 point increase from first to second try on GMAT? [#permalink] New post 15 Dec 2006, 11:15
I have heard something about adcoms liking a 30 point increase from first to second try on GMAT. Obviously if you get more than 30 points then you are awesome, but what is magic about a 30 point increase

Anything less than a 30 point increase is within the margin of testing error. Just off the top of my head, I remember reading that the testing error on the GMAT is 26 points, so if you don't improve by more than that, it doesn't help you. Also, Adcoms expect some improvement for retakes.
