D has incorrect comparison between "human beings" and "entering..."

We require present tense in underlined portion(As till now scientist believe that humans entered Americas over bering land bridge). A and D satisfy the condition .In D as and entering is not appropriate ,so A is the best choice

A - the original sentence is correct. BCE - change meaning by using past tense "were". D uses present participle "entering" incorrectly. sondenso wrote: 325.Geologists believe that the Bering land bridge, over which human beings are thought to have first entered the Americans, disappeared about 14,000 years ago when massive glaciers melted and caused the sea level to rise several hundred feet worldwide. "It disappeared" eliminate everything with "are" I think the answer is E.

@rw
B is incorrect because it changes the meaning of the OS and sounds as if the human beings are the first to enter the Americas.

(A) are thought to have first entered
- IMO A. What stumped me is "are" which indicates the present tense. At first I thought the answer is E. However, the thing is the sentence is conveying that even till today it is still thought that the human beings used the Bering land bridlge to cross to the Americas. Therefore teh use of "are" is correct here.
