I wasnt sure if TRAM could have been rearranged like MART, RATM, RAMT etc. but obviously it doesnt matter.

no problem parikshat.

You know that you need 4 letters : T,R,A,M
Order is not important because it is said that you need letters that can be arranged to form the word TRAM. (Gmatt773)

There are 7 letters in total, 4 are ok and 3 are not ok for you.

so if you pick 4 letters
1st pick : positive outcome : 4 letters out of 7 letters
2nd pick : 3 letters out of 6
3rd pick : 2 letters out of 5
4th pick : 1 letter out of 4

Of the 7 letters we have to choose 4, this can be done in (7C4) ways = 35.

All these 35 words have 4 letters each. Of which, we are only interested with TRAM, so it is 1/35.
