4 times the charm [#permalink] New post 14 Nov 2005, 00:12
Small anecdote of inspiration for those who are like me: struggling despite multiple attempts at the gmat.

My scores after the 4th attempt, 580, 580, 600 and finally 670 (Q42,V40)!!
Not much but at least will give me a shot at my dream schools, so definitely take it from me...Anything IS possible! What really changed my score, was being less nervous the last and final time. I wasn't too anxious in any section, and kind of went in with a more calm and collected attitude. After two 580 scores, i ended up taking a Kaplan Class, and some of their "tricks" actually helped, especially in the quant. relatively speaking since my college was NOT Q heavy at all. After a second 580, I knew something was wrong. After getting a 600 after the class i was even more devastated. I WAS convinced however that I could score in the mid 600s so in two weeks gave it another go-around. Last wed, I was in disbelief!!! I had reached the goal that I had set out to achieve!! Anyhow, as most of you are, i am busy with my apps, but definitely wanted to thank this website for inspiring me! i was a silent lurker for many months, so thanks gmat club!!

How did you study for the two weeks after you got the 600? You only give yourself 2 weeks of time?

actually, my point being was that I think studying wasn't the issue after my 600 score. It really was my attitude towards the test, and simply not being so anxious and wearing myself out through the grueling 4 hour process. That's why I was convinced that I COULD score higher, and wanted to prove it in a way. If I didnt hit my mark, then I would walk away knowing that I tried. My total time spent studying for the gmat from beginning to end took about 1 whole years time and 4 tries before getting a decent score. I hope that others don't make the mistakes I did, since I am in the midst of doing my apps, I wish I had taken care of this last year, then I wouldn't have been so stressed come Rd.1 and Rd.2 deadlines. Alas, there IS light at the end of the tunnel as other MBA students have told me.
