Hi All ..
I have 5 days to go for D-day ... I am really nervous about my preparation..I feel all the preparation I did for 3 months was insane. I was completely loaded with work by my boss(Never understood my situation inspite of repeated telling). Had to work till 11:00 night and no peace of mind due to work tensions. When I took GMAT Prep 2 days ago I scored shamelessly 500(Took it in the night). Having targeted for 700+ I never looked forward for the day like this. Once again I step into office on moday it makes me to completely forget about GMAT. I could afford to take leave only for 2 days(1 for D-Day and another one for prev day).
I have lost the motivation to study further this time. This is first time I am taking the test.. any ideas or inputs that can help at this point of time. Verbal is my weakness.
I am planning to take GMAT Prep tomorrow. Let me see how much I score. I will update on that. One more question, if my exam time is scheduled at 13:15 is it better for me to take GMAT Prep at same time???
if u really feel underprepared and feel that u can do much better next time than u would on this one, then don't give it...
not sure if gmat will report it on your scorecard, but check it out for sure...
if u can afford it, then $250 here or there don't make a difference..its the result that counds...
Thanks every one ... for your encouraging words.. I am trying to keep myself cool..
Good luck to you too adub35!!!!
Gauravgoyal.. Thanks for your suggestion...I have to take the GMAT this time and atleast see how well I perform on the actual test and all that hardwork I did for 3 months is alteast worth giving a try.. if I reschedule this I may have to postone it for 4 months because of personal reasons...
I just took GMAT Prep today morning and once again ended up scoring 520. Just reviewed it and found that I have made silly mistakes in Quant and about verbal, I think I was too nervous seeing the time which didnt allow me to concentrate. I have to hide that time display, but I am afraid that I may exceed the time limits later, which cannot be repaired at the end.
Anybody have any solutions for this????
Thanks guys !!!!
I try not to spend more 3 minutes on any question. Some questions are going to be too hard for you to answer so why spend 10 minutes trying to solve it and then in the end you still end up missing it. There are suppose to be questions that you can't answer. Actually finishing each section is whats going to really help your score. Yeah, the beginning ones carry more weigh but the end ones still contribute too.
I did not look at the clock for the first 10 questions of each section. This allowed me to get settled in the test and helped me with my concentration. Moreover, I figured that if I got most of the first 10 right, I would score well even if the later part of the test did not go so well. I then looked at the clock periodically after that for every 5 questions or so and adjusted my speed accordingly.
I would recommend that you don't under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ever take the GMAT "just to see how you do." I was talking about this in another post, but schools (maybe not all of them) can see all of the tests you've taken, and if you're improved from a 600 to a 650, they still see the 650. So if they're comparing you to someone who took the test once and got a 650, it doesn't make you look good.
If you really just want to see how you will do, take GMATPrep, that will tell you how you will do. You'll save yourself 300 bucks or whatever the GMAT costs and you won't have a "practice" test smearing your test records.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions and advises. I am compelled to take up exam this time. Some how I am feeling that I should do it because I may not be able to take up anytime in next 6 months and all that sacrifice I have made for 3 months should really be worth testing for. Though I couldnt practice last couple of weeks, I am still trying to relax and do my best at it now.
I respect your suggestion Johnnyx, but some how not able to do that.
I took extra 1/2 day leave and now relaxing at home trying to grasp last minute tricks as I dont want strain myself tomorrow.
