C is talking about gray dogs. Did you mean some other answer choice?
BTW C is not the answer.

Well, I've been wrong before, but I was pretty sure about this one.
every dog that growled at me was a white poodle.
If every dog that growled at her is a white poodle, that means that no dogs other than white poodles growled at her.
If a gray dog growled at her, that would contradict her statement that every dog that growled at me was a white poodle.

I think D is the answer. I'll come up with an explanation later

These critical reasonings questions are giving me a headache to explain. Honestly, I went with C as the original answer but as I saw that Stoolfi did not get it, I went with my second choice which was D. Yet, I just can't find the words now as to how D could be better than C...

Let me explain
A) The only white dogs that Elena saw at the dog show were poodles.
This is may not true because she might have seen white dogs that didnt bark at her.
(B) There were no gray poodles at the dog show.
This may not be true because gray poodles might have been present and not barked at her
(C) At the dog show, no gray dogs growled at Elena.
This has to be true because only white dogs that did bark at her were poodles and all the white poodles she saw barked at her.
Draw the venn diagram and you will see that the set that encloses all the dogs that barked at her concides with all the white poodles she saw.
(D) All the white dogs that Elena saw growled at her.
Only white dogs that barked at her were poodles. So this may not be true. There might be some white dogs other than poodles that didnt bark at her
(E) Elena did not see any gray poodles at the dog show
Again this may not be true because she says all the shilte poodles she saw barked at her. So there might be grap poodles that didnt bark her.

Wow!!!!
I did not expect this long chain of responses. The official answer is E.
But I think it should be D and I just wanted to confirm that D in fact should be the answer. I am hoping that some folks here would confirm my reasoning.
Please open the attachement. (For those who do not know, please note that you have to log in in order to see the attachment).
Please comeback with your comments. Thanks

Well..well...well. After thinking over this reasoning, I think I would like to contradict myself. I would agree that C should be the answer.
D also stands correct with the given information. But I think it is just a RESTATEMENT of the second clasue given in the question stem and in GMAT, I think the inference questions should not be a direct restatment of what is given in the question stem. On this ground I would also go with C instaed of D.
E, which is official answer still does not make sense to me.
I just ignored C outrightly the moment I saw the word 'gray'. I better start looking at the answer choice more closely.

Hi gmatblast,
The question is from http://www.studa.com. Question five in Critical reasoning Test 9, Second set. I verified the answer. The answer is C.
Go and take a good look. E is the answer for Q5 in RC section
Test 9 has two CR sections and 1 RC section. Two sections have 25 Q each and RC section has 26. However the sections are not clearly labled. The answer for 5th Q in both the CR tests is C.
I am currently at test set 17.
My explaination stands. I will stick with it. I wonder why stoolfi and asandeep have gone silent.

Quote: I wonder why stoolfi and asandeep have gone silent.
I can't speak for asandeep, but I've gone silent because I don't care what Studa says (even if it turned out that they claim C as well). The answer is clearly C. If someone here posts a convincing explanation otherwise, I'll rethink. I just don't see any merit on pissing all over the thread.

Hmm,
I like your reply dude. Quite true. The answer is C anyway. Pissing over the post would soon get anyone promotion to eventually become CEO.

I agree with stoolfi. Our energy is better spent doing other questions rather than trying to find a reasoning for a clearly wrong choice. The question does not deserve so much time.
