I had posted this topic in another popular gmat forum..Didnt get much help from there...pls guys help...i wanted to fight back..

I had taken GMATPREP1 without any preparation as a diagnostic test and got 570. I understood I was weak in verbal and concentrated on Verbal during my preparation. I had read the MGMAT SC guide and Powerscore CR bible multiple times (close 5 times) and had a very good accuracy with last 50 questions in OG. But I dont know what happened on the GMAT i got only 18 in Verbal section. Got 620 in GMAT Prep2, 590 in princeton review, 580 and 590 in Kaplan online events. But scored 530 on the real GMAT. I cannot digest this score.

Of all the Tests that I have taken till now I have scored the least in GMAT. I hope it never happens to any student. I also felt that the test was tough. The very second question i got was a permutation and combination problem. First 15 were very different most of them were DS questions and the last 10 were very easy. Finished the last 10 in 13 minutes(44 in Quant). I though the verbal was not that difficult. But i couldnt think clearly on the CR part. The duration of the test had taken its toll on me. I couldnt think clearly on CR and I wasnt following the technique that I had been following during practice (I was using POE- process of elimination on each question). I have never done the AWA part during the full length test. Thats the BIGGEST MISTAKE I made. Also I think my preparation had some gaps. I wasnt reviewing the mistakes that I was making. Need your help on the below questions. I am planning to take on GMAT again and prove myself the second time. I am aiming for 700+ score.

1. How to prepare mentally and physically for the GMAT.
2. How to review the wrong question is Verbal.
3. How to improve in Verbal section. I used MGMAT SC and Powerscore. Also suggest good practice material for Verbal.

I'm really frustrated with my score. Just a week before the GMAT i had score a 620 on GMATPREP2. Guys, Friends, Tutors pls help me fight back.

GMAT PREP1 - 570 (without any preparation..took it as diagnostic)
Kaplan - 570
Grockit -600
kaplan - 580
princeton review - 590
GMATPREP2 - 620

Finally GMAT - 530.
GMAT was bit hard for me..found it to be harder than OG questions..My second Q in quant was Permutation problem... got a series of DS problems almost 7...Last 10 were quite easy..Most of the last 10 were PS and solved them all in 13 minutes...
Verbal i thought i was doing well except CR..

Imagine: It’s test day–the real deal. Not a practice exam. You’ve walked by or driven by your test center a few days earlier so you know what it looks like. You imagine yourself walking into the test center. You know your test is in front of a computer at one of those testing centers. Visualize yourself going through the directions on the computer.

Spend at least five minutes at a time imagining different details about taking the test. Visualize yourself spotting sentence structures based on keywords or commas. Visualize yourself checking for X & Y consistency for SC questions or recognizing a Data Sufficiency Percent vs. Actual Number question. You know what to look for and where the pitfalls are (multiple % data points without any actual number data points are useless if they ask you a “how many” question).

Your visualization scene doesn’t need to be the same each time, but you need to tap into a sense of accomplishment, calm, and confidence. Do this every morning and before bedtime.

Neurophysiologist researchers at Stanford University (my alma mater) and University of Chicago evaluated the efficacy of visualization. They compared two sets of basketball players. The first group practiced playing whereas the second group only imagined practicing. The players who didn’t physically practice, but visualized peak performance, improved 23 -30 percent in their actual basket-shooting ability, whereas the students who physically “practiced” saw little improvement.
