Thanks for the posting.

As for getting into a decent university, you have to define what that is. Your chances of being accepted into a program that are part of the world's top 50 would be challenging. However, there are many great programs that do not fit into this ranking that are excellent and would provide you with a great education and career prospects. However, if you do decide to apply, you have to realize that your margin of error has been used up by your GMAT score and you are going to have to submit a great application that makes you a compelling candidate.

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
I understand my GMAT score doesn't allow me to apply for an MBA Program in the top 50 universities. However, as I continue to ruminate over your reply, situation doesn't look as grim as I expected. I am pretty naive and have the least knowledge about the other programs you are talking about. Could you please elaborate/ suggest more on this?
And what are the main points expected from my end to make my application a splendid or rather an outstanding one?

I really appreciate your reply.
Thanks.

I would prefer a university in the EU region.
1 year course on SCM, investment, mathematical financial modeling or consulting with maximum placements in the same region.
The main reason why I wish to attend a postgraduate program is because I want to change my job profile.
Though I would be able to comment further once I understand which programs you have in mind for me.

MBA from Virginia tech! Is it worth a shot?
590 GMAT, 3.37 GPA, Work Ex 3 years (4 years, at the time of admission (if selected))
Civil Engineering (But my work experience is quite diversified, i.e. Construction, Manufacturing and IT)
Deliverables: extra claims, effective schedule and supply chain management (cannot disclose the details though)
No extra curriculars as such, but I am an occassional social servant.
Was selected for a D.Phil Program at Oxford University (going through the toughest selection process), but was unable to join the program because of insufficient funding.
I love to cook, I dont know whether this will add anything to my application, but during my 75 day stay in Japan, all my Japanese friends (I socialize easily) "oishii-ed" (japanese word for delicious) the curries I cooked.

Schools that i tell people to look at who are in your situation include Rice, Notre Dame, Rochester, Baruch, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Florida and Miami. VA Tech is worth a shot.
