I heard from another forum that the UK govt only allows prospective students to apply to only 6 schools? how true is this? ive heard it quite a number of times already.

That is most likely refering to the UCAS system, which is for applying to undergraduate levels.

As I remember that is six schools maximum (but entirely different).
