Hi Adam,

Thanks for writing in and sharing your experience – indeed it all does become part of the application. You have some really great and diverse experience – schools tend to look favorably upon military experience due to the leadership component, and your international experience should play well also.

Given that you are only focused on one program, and that you’re on the lowest end of the range, I think you should try one more time. Your practice tests indicate you could score up to 60 more points, which put you right in the middle of the GMAT range. You certainly can still apply and with your unique background you may get in, but since this is the only school you care about, I think you’re best served with one more attempt.

Best of luck,
Brian

I see your point, Adam: I don't want to date the sister of the girl of my dreams either!

That said, having been through business school, I actually think that most people could be happy at a number of programs. I went to Wharton, but I believe I would've had a great experience at Sloan, Tuck, Kellogg, or Stanford, among others.

And, to complete the analogy, it depends on your philosophy, there might be multiple "girls of your dreams" out there!

In any case, there is no perfect approach. If you firmly believe that this is the one place for you, then who am I to tell you otherwise! Just know that, of course, it is a riskier approach than applying to multiple schools. That's all.

Best of luck!
Brian
