640 after discouraging GMATPrep scores [#permalink] New post 10 Jun 2011, 02:52
Now unlike a lot of people here, I was never really aiming to get into the 700 club. I mean it would've been great but I know my capabilities :) I'm a fresh grad from a Communication course and am currently pursuing a second degree in European Studies with a business track, so am just beginning to take some business subjects. I plan to go to grad school, not for MBA but for Masters in Marketing Management and my target schools are ESADE, IE, Duke, Texas A&M and Kelogg.

I took the GMAT Prep tests and got scores of 560, 600, then 580 (just the night before my exam), so I was pretty discouraged. During the test I clicked Next on the last question of the quant portion and before i could click confirm, the time ran out on me! My heart stopped and I decided not to take the break between quant and verbal because I was so stressed by the penalty that would be imposed on me that I just wanted to get the test over and done with. Throughout most of the verbal part I was extremely stressed and had to read passages over and over because the penalty from the quant portion was bugging me. I was more than pleasantly surprised to see that I ended up with a 640 :) Now I know it's not high by most of the people's standards on here, but based on my penalty and how low I was scoring on GMAT Prep I was ecstatic! But I can't help but wonder what my score would've been if I had just ben half a second faster at clicking :(

I wish someone could give an approx. deduction for the penalty of 1-2 unanswered questions in Quants. I was unable to complete Quants by 2 questions and got 44 in Quants. I really wanna know how much the unanswered questions affected my total score
