Just took my first CAT with Kaplan online. Stats:

Scaled scores:

Overall 640
Overall % below: 81
Quant: 39
Quant % below: 80
Verbal: 42
Verbal % below: 95

Q 26/37
V 34/41

This comes after about one month of hard-core studying. I hit it hard during my week off from work over Christmas. I average 2-3 hours/day M-F and 5+ hours on Saturdays. At a minimum I need to break into the 700 club. I'm scheduled to test on Friday, March 2.

Is it doable? Please, experts, enlighten me.

700 is definitely doable from your starting point! Of course, with all things GMAT, it will take hard work and there are no guarantees (well, we guarantee our classes--but there are no Test-Day guarantees!). But a month of serious studying has raised many of my students' scores by 60 points or more, so I would stay positive and say you have a good chance of success.

From all indicators I have heard/seen on both the GMATclub and personal anecdotes I have heard from friends, the Kaplan tests are harder to do well on than the actual exam itself. One of my friends scored a 690 on his last Kaplan test before taking the actual exam. He scored a 730 a week or so later. Good luck on your quest to a 700.
