Hi,

I got 660(q50 v30) in my first attempt today and need your advice to find out whether reappearing for exam is really worth it. Here is my background info:
--3.9 GPA; conversion done based on conversion chart provided during exam. Otherwise, it is 8.6 on the scale of 10. I am from India and studied in India.
--Working with a major bank in Amsterdam as an IT consultant from past 1.5 years. Previously worked with a company in India for about 1.5 years; so in total 3 years of experience.

I want to check my chances for University of Chicago, Booth or University of Michigan, Ross.
I would really appreciate if you guys can help me decide whether shall I reappear for test or not.

Your GMAT score is low, but it may be covered up by your excellent GPA. Though competition would be tough for you as you are an IT guy from India. Most of the Indian applicants have this profile. Also, generally the expected GMAT range for Indians is quite high.
Your work experience sounds good though. Please provide the kind of experience you had. I mean, did you get any leadership role where you had to manage a large team?
You haven't mentioned anything about your extracurricular activities. Please provide more information on this to help us give you an accurate assessment of your chances.
Booth seems quite tough for you, but Ross may be achievable. All depends on the quality of application essays you write. As far as appearing for GMAT is concerned, it won't hamper your chances if you are able to get a score of 700+. It is quite essential that you show a significant improvement over your previous performance.
Since you have decent international experience, you could also apply to LBS and INSEAD. I would also suggest you to apply to Oxford and ISB.

Good Luck!
