660(Q50, V31) - should I retake? [#permalink] New post 01 Nov 2005, 04:05
Hello ALL,
I took the test last week and scored 660. The quant section seemed to me a little harder than that in PowerPrep, but easier than it is in GMATprep. In my quant sec I have got 3 probability/permutation, 2 coordinate geometry, 3 word problems, 2 stnd.deviation and many integers property DS questions. Strange thing is, that I answered at least 4-5 question wrong, moreover, 2 of them were in the first 5 questions. Nevertheless I received 50. So, I don't think that the first 5 questions are the most imporant ones.

Regarding verbal questions, they all seemed to me very easy and simple. I guess, this feeling led me to such a low score. I have got many SC, 4 texts(40,40,60,80 liners), and 7-10CR(2 bold-faces). I don't think that I answered more than 7 questions wrong, but still got very low score.

I'm planning to take it again this month. What study plan would you recommend? What do you think, is it possible to raise my score from 660 to 700+ in 20 days?

Thank you.

Dishod,
I have had the same experience. I thought I was weak in verbal. I ended up doing well in verbal and worse in quant. Quant was harder than OG10 or POWERPREP.

Can you raise your score 40plus points in 20 days? YES YOU CAN. I raised mine 100 points in 30 days, but you must know what your exact weakness is and concentrate on it in those 20 days. Of course do not forget your strengths: do a couple problems a day to stay polished in those areas, but spend almost 90% of your remaining time improving your skills in your weak areas. I would still take a practice test here and there to gauge your abilities and to stay strong in test taking stamina. I hope this advice helps

Thanks for the advices.
I've heard many people saying that verbal score is harder to improve. I know, that my verbal skills are below the average, so this time I'm not going to return to my old study methods, practising that is. Could somebody share the more effective methods on how to improve verbal skills?

I've been practicing on Gmatclub for full 3 month, but the result is very bad. The worst thing is, that if I were to score 3-4 points higher on verbal, I would have joined 7XX's.
