Grateful lurker here... just wanna say that a lot of tips were really helpful here, especially rhyme's RC strategy (thanks rhyme!). I got a 670 (Q43 V39, AWA 5.5), which I'm very happy with. It's not 700, but considering my first practice exam gave me a 490, I ain't complaining!
Practice Materials:
Started out with the Kaplan prep course (the company paid for it, and IMHO it wasn't really useful)
After my less than satisfying experience with the Kaplan prep course, I just went through Princeton, the
Manhattan books and
OG.
During my second go-through of
OG, everyday I did some Mini-GMATs, which usually consisted of 12 PS, 8 DS, 2 RC Passages, 5 CR and 7 SC questions (all from
OG) for about a month before the exam.
I realized that I couldn't improve at Quant by simply guessing and/or looking at the abbreviated explanations to the answer questions. I felt that I really needed to brush up on my basics, and that's where the
Manhattan books came into play. I can't say enough great things about those books, not just for Quant, but for SC as well.
My background info:
27/Male
Communications Major
Filipino
Global Research/Marketing Sr. Associate for an IT consulting firm, where I've been working at for the last 4 years. It's kinda weird working in an IT firm and not know how to code or do any of that techie stuff
6 years total work experience
Looking to get into UIUC, ND or Georgetown
To everybody who wants to boost their score, just keep practicing, you'll get the score you want!
