Dear Experts, so I just sat for my GMAT some hours ago. And the result is not a very pleasant one: IR: 6 and 690 Q47 and V38.
In shock when I saw my results (As I always scored 700+ on my last SATs), I didn’t know what to do, I just validated the results. Now I am wondering if I should retake. I am targeting the top 5 to say the least, Insead + the top 4 Americans.
Some background: I am a 29 year old female from Congo (RDC), lived in Congo, Kenya and now France. I went to a French B school and I work in brokerage: Real Estate analyst (2 years) prior to that I was in Sales (same company for 2 years). I speak 5 languages, excluding mandarin.
Exam experience : first thing first no leaving the premises so for smokers out there like myself you’ll have to do without.
AWA: the keyboard was in QWERTY in France!!! Why? The moment I realized I was in panic. I had to correct myself several times writing Qs instead of As, looking for Ms and searching for %. For the later, I gave up and went with word “percent”. Luckily however, I had an argument on property occupancy rates. As I am a property analyst, I had a lot to say.
IR: well I have never liked it, I barely studied for it and I was hoping for a 5. Clearly a 6 is more than welcomed.
On Quant the first question was bad!It read something close to: in a test of 50 questions, students get 5 points for every question they get right and minus 2 points for every wrong or an answered question. Which of the following could be a student’s score? After 5 minutes I chose 194, if I am not mistaken.
For the rest I felt I did ok, I probably did some silly mistakes as always, to get a 47. I finished on time.
On verbal : I had 4 RC passages including 2 nasty long ones (one on insects and the second one on humanities) I felt I did ok, although the last passage appeared in the last ten questions when I was already very tired.
SC: I think I really did ok, thank you e.gmat, however CR was gibberish, I almost only got assumption questions and for most of them I was unable to pinpoint the assumptions prior to reading the answer choices, I think this killed me.
