Hi MBA Admission Experts,

a little bit about my person:

Education:

Bachelor, Software Engineering - Austria, Vienna
Master, Software Engineering - Austria, Vienna

GPA:

3.6

Work Exp:

During University:
Software Developer, 4 years part-time at biggest Insurance Company in Austria

After:
Software Developer, 2 years at a Start-Up (projects in Health Care Sector)
Software Architect, 3 years at the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime

GMAT:

700 (Q48/V37), IR: 8, AWA: 4.0

Notes

I am facing the decision now which schools I should apply to, and which MBA is better for me.

I would be more interested in a Master in Finance, but the current market / job situation is so bad in finance that I am not 100% sure.

Plan B is to go for a MBA in International Management.

My target schools are LBS, LSE or INSEAD in Europe.

I think my profile is not good enough for an application to an US based top school.

Questions

Am I wrong in this evaluation?
Is my AWA score (4.0) bad for my chances to get accepted?
Do I evaluate the current market situation in finance correct?

Hope this are not too many questions.

If some info from my side is missing to correctly evaluate my profile please write me.

Regards

JS

I think you have a very interesting profile. (Especially like the UN Drug and Crime... sounds exciting!).
First of all, as an Austrian candidate, you are coming from a very small pool, which will play to your disadvantage. You don't maybe come from the most exciting industry (software development) BUT you do have the words "United Nations" on your resume,, which is not bad at all. :)

Actually I think you are undervaluing your application, and you could get into a good US school (and anyhow LBS is not easier to get into than any other Top US school). To be honest, I think your profile can be good enough to make you game for almost any of the top 10 programs (the Top 3 will be very hard, but they are very hard for everybody!)

I think you also have a lot more nice options in Europe too: HEC, IE, IESE, Oxford, Cambridge, which could also be options...

Feel free to drop by our website and fill out a profile evaluation form for a free consultation, and we can dig deeper into your profile,
