GMAT preparation
==============
I started my preparation about four months ago. I went throuhg
OG, PR and Kaplan. My first attempt was in Sept (first month of my preparation). Did not realize that I was not even close to taming the beast in verbal. Scored 640 (Q 47 V 31). I took this as a challenge and started to prep again with the aim to score a 700+. I found this site and sentencecorrection.com. I learnt a whole lot from the sentence correction site. This site is the absolute best in grinding a few concepts into you. There are so many questions that test the same concept, by the time you are done reviewing all the questions you will have all the "general" concepts in your finger tips.
Exam Day
========
I really did not pay a whole of attention to the AWA section. Got thru the two essays.
Took the 5 minute break.
I started the Quant section and the first few questions were easy. But I was so anxious that I made a mistake on my fourth question. I relaized as soon as I hit the confirm button. I knew that this was going to cost me dearly and it did. I am pretty decent in Math but my tension in the first few minutes cost me. After this I relaxed and went thru the rest of the questions. They were easy except for one or two.
Took the 5 minute break.
At this point I knew I messed up in the quants section. All I wanted to achieve from my verbal section was to see where I stood. Started off few with few SC's, RC, CR, RC...etc. All the questions were pretty similar to
OG in terms of difficulty except for one RC. I had no clue what that RC (science passage) was talking about. But unlike in Quant, I never knew how I was doing in Verbal. Time management was not a problem to me as I was able to save some time with easy SC's and CR's.
Score
=====
I skipped thru the survey...and was ready to swallow the bad news...to my surprise 700 (Q47 V 39) popped up...I felt happy with the over all score but felt very disappointed with the quants score.
I am applying to a part time program and I hope that this score will not keep me out...
Summary
=======
The Quant section was difficult and if you don't keep your cool, the difficulty level just shoots up....so be cool and think carefully...a lot of times you can approach questions with common sense rather than complex formulae....
Needless to say...thanks to all of you and good luck...
