710 - Q(48) V(38) - AWA 4.0 [#permalink]
14 Jun 2008, 11:43
I've just taken my GMAT this morning, and scored 710.
I'm not so excited because I've prepared for the test for about 3 months. I have no such a good work experience (2 years and a half), and I think my only chance to be accepted at a top business school now would be to get a great score, and for that I was expecting somethign about 750...But I'm not completely disappointed.
from you guys who have been accepted at some good business school, I'd like to know if I have any chance to be accepted without such good work experience, and such great GMAT score.
My AWA score is still to come, and I haven't taken the toefl yet.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot. Don't be so down on yourself, ldpedroso. 710 is a great score and will hold it's own at just about any school.

I think a big problem is people make a high GMAT score the goal, versus the real goal, which is getting into the b-school of your choice. Like another poster said, a 710 score with that split won't keep you out of any b-school. Of course it would be nice to get a 750, but I've heard time and time again from b-school admission consultants, any score over 700 is treated pretty much the same. I just scored a 720 and I was hoping for something closer to my GMATprep practice scores (750), but I just realized, do you think a b-school would reject someone with a 720, but take them with a 750? The GMAT itself has a +/-20 point range. Trust me, if you don't get in to where you wanted to go, it wasn't your GMAT score that kept you out. NN

Thanks goal..
lordw, I can't remember the execises, but they are pretty similar to those at the GMAT Prep. In fact, I thnik the best preparation is the GMAt Prep. I did a lot of Manhattan Prer too, but I think they are a bit more difficult than the real thing.
