Long time lurker/sometimes poster and now a new member of the 700+ club! About 4 months ago I bought the full
MGMAT course, OG12, and the
OG Q and V guides. I worked through the whole
MGMAT course and the Q/V guides. Then I went through
MGMAT again (excluding RC and CR, which I was doing well in), and did the OG12 questions. I finally did another review, just reading through the books, in the last couple days before the test. I probably did about 2-3 solid months of studying overall -- always taking time in my busy day for the GMATClub QotD.
My first
MGMAT CAT, a week or so ago, was a disaster. I didn't do practice problems under the time constraints and finished the quant section with 7 questions blank (I could have guessed, but who cares if its a practice test). Score: 650. GULP. The next day I took GMATPrep CAT 1 and scored a 680. I really started studying hard and perfecting my time issues. A few days later I took GMATPrep CAT 2 and scored 730! I took
MGMAT 2 and scored 710 -- by now I was pretty happy that the 730 wasn't a fluke and that I could probably score over 700. I kept studying hard this week, taking all week off work. I took GMATPrep #1 again and scored 730, then
MGMAT 3 scoring 710 again. Finally, yesterday I took
MGMAT 4 and scored 740! I really thought I was ready for this test -- I felt I was peaking at just the right moment and was primed for a really high score. I felt good taking it and expected to see a killer score. I saw the 710 and almost couldn't believe it. I hadn't scored under 44 on the past 4 CATs I took. My quant was around 46-48, depending on the test.
Should I stop my silly complaining and just accept the fact that I have a great score? Probably! However, after scoring about 20 points higher on my last few practice tests, I suppose my expectations were different.
I might take it over or might keep it, not sure yet. I felt that I wasn't totally ready for the test, but I'm taking CFA LIII in June and simply had to take the GMAT now and then start working on that -- I can always take another shot at the GMAT after June. That being said, perhaps I should just QMB and be happy for the score I've got!
