Dear All,

Just faced the monster & done with 710.
I had not targetted any score as a target score, I didn't think much about it. Just after finishing verbal I felt I would have done better in verbal, I rushed through last 2/3 questions. Anyways, there is no end to such feeling

I want to thank GMAT CLUB for everything it has been like a family. I have benifited a lot from the club. Thanks to Wilfred, Paul,
Hjort for their vaulable advice time to time, whenever I mailed. Thanks Pret for making this club a wonderful place!
I also want to thank all my buddies over here Laxie, Matt, Nandan, Girish, Himalaya, Abhishek (bewakoof), Prof, allabout, hotface, sanjay (gmat_crack), Brajesh, Andy, Nakib, Rahul.....I'm sure I missed many names

As far as GMAT was concerned, I found GMATPrep overall score close to what I got, I scored around 700 in 3 tests.

In the exam, AWA was cool. Quant is definitely tougher than ETS, challenges helped me a lot to get the confidence. Wordy DS are the tougher ones, but if you read carefully & write the equations, it's actually very easy. I didn't get any probability, otherwise, pretty mixed bag.
Overall, I think quant is tougher if you try to solve it, VUE quant needs you to analyse & think, solving might take longer time!

Coming to verbal, I got 3 RCs (my enemy), very short passages with 3 to 4 questions each. I want to thank Nandan for giving really valuable advice for RCs. My hit ration improved drammatically from no where to 80 to 90%. There were many SCs than CRs. Couple of really lenghy SCs.

Overall, good experience. No problem with marker or erasable boards (I tried to erase but it didn't erase )

My only advice, "never give up", focus, practice, hard work really pay!

Thank you very much friends Thanks Nandan (for making me feel that my SC skills are good )

John, Remgeo,
shahnandan (Nandan), is a RC killer, he shared few RC tips with me after he literally cracked it in GMAT. I'll post the tips sometime.

Coming to my preparation:
I started thinking of GMAT/MBA around 2004 end, that's when I found this wonderful place. I started my GMAT preparation around July 2005 & once bombed it in August After that my study went through lot of hurdles mainly due to work priorities & study was going on & off. I had to postpone my GMAT date couple of times.

I knew that verbal is the weakest link for me, especially SCs. I consulted many people on the club like Paul, Wilfred etc. they gave me really valuable tips. I practiced a lot of SCs. The key is to eliminate each but one choice with "proper" reasoning, that too, by looking for more than one error in each choice (if possible) to make the elimination stronger. Not to forget discussions on our club forum is very good, it's the best way to learn! Explain your choice always. I was good in CRs & became good in RCs towards end.

The material I used is OG (10th edition), it's a MUST. I did SCs & CRs several times from the OG. The OG explanations are very good to learn. Apart from this, 1000SC, 1000CR, 1000RC, some old GMAT sets shared by friends here. I used KAPLAN verbal workout only initially to understand the strategies for SCs. Otherwise, I spent lot of time on the club, solving & discussing various problems. GMAT club challenges are worth trying, it gave me lot of confidence.
I wrote couple of practice tests but not too many, again due to my more than 12 hours work/day.

PR 680
KAPLAN 650
GMATPrep1 710
GMATPrep2 720
GMATPRep3 720
GMATPrep4 DON'T ASK (Almost 80% question were repeated )
I scored 50 in quants in two GMATPrep tests.

One suggestion I have is, do not get carried away by anybody's GMAT experience, never compare yourself with others. Just try to learn from others.
Let me know if you have any specific questions I'll be around. I'll be happy to share whatever I know. I'll be out for next 3 days, will try to respond as & when I get time

OH! I forgot to thank my wife & my little angel. They tolerated a lot because of my work & the study schedules!
