Been lurking here for about a week, this is my first post.
As you can tell from the title, I got a 750 on the GMAT today. I was stunned.
I never scored higher than a 720 on any practice test and thought I had goofed-up the math. In fact, I did, but my verbal score was 7 points higher than I had ever gotten before.
How I studied:
I took a week off of work and studied all week. Took 1 practice test Tues - Sat morning and studied a little bit each afternoon. I studied a little before this week, but because I work 6-7 days a week at an average of 16 hours per day, studying has not been in my recent schedule. Studied with Barron's, PR's verbal workout for the GMAT and PR's cracking the GMAT.
Expecations:
I am an engineer, so I was striving to get a 50+ on the Quan., and just do my best on the verbal. My practice tests reflected that with my Q range from 46 - 51 and my V range from 36 - 41. As you can see, the difference was in the verbal.
Test Day:
Got a good night's sleep (eventhough my Cardinals were on TV), went to bed around 9 and woke up at 6:30. Didn't really sleep the whole time, but slept for enough of it. Had my obiligatory 2 cups of coffee while reading some GMAT club posts, and left around 7:45am. Test time was 9am and the center was only 15 minutes away so I was a bit early (8:01!), but went in and took the test early. Took both 5 minute breaks to have a small drink of water and splash some on my face, but otherwise, took almost the entire time. Finished about 12.
PR review: (only my opinion, others may feel different)
The math is ok, but not as intense as the actual test. Verbal was great, the practice tests were tougher than the actual GMAT and the explanations were sufficient to help study.
Thanks to all the posts I've read, and feel free to ask questions. I would be happy to help, after all the help I have received from this board.
