KUDOS
I took the exam 2 days back, and i want to share my experience in the hope that it will help someone.
I scored 750
I began my preparation with 7 weeks left for the exam, and as i had relatively nothing else to do, i invested most of my time on the GMAT. I began with using 3 books to cover the syllabus- Barron's, Kaplan and the Princeton Review. Among these, i found the Kaplan book the most comprehensive guide, especially fort he verbal part. I never did anything for the quant part, i was always good at it, and looking at the syllabus, i knew i'd never have problems with that.
For verbal though it required a lot of practice, and even while giving the exam i thought i have screwed up. Although i had a lot of time left, the last 8-9 questions were a breeze, i didn't think twice before selecting next. I was literally shocked when i saw the score, it was improbable, if not impossible.
What i have learned from this exam is:
- Never give up
- Never forget it an adaptive exam, the tougher the questions, the better you are doing
- The official GMAT prep software is the best indicator. I got 720 and 740 on the two tests. Everywhere else i scored around 650-670
- It is a long exam, keep your focus throughout. It is difficult, but comes only with practice.
- Know your test centre beforehand, it helps.
- Use your 10 min break wisely. I used mine to freshen up, drink some energy fluids, and eat chocolates. Do what you think will help. Just thinking that it will help also helps.

What next:
I'm applying for Harvard's 2+2 program in a few days. That seems to be my only option right now, as i have yet to graduate and have no work experience.

Anything else you guys want to know please feel free to ask. I'll help in whatever way i can, because this forum has helped me like nothing else.

I have one question on verbal.
Of all the variety of SC/CR/RC you practiced, which source did you find the difficulty level to be similar to GMAT ?
Namely OG12, Kaplan, OG-Verbal, 1000series ?
Can you give an approx breakout as to how many were easy and how many were diff for you ? I know its adaptive, but still If I aim to score 750 I should know what I should be expecting.

And on quants : Approx how many questions did you face which you found difficult ? I know since you scored 51 in Q you might be good at it. But still, there might be some which were sitters and some twisted. A breakout will do.
I am scoring 49-50 in quants in the practice tests regularly (with regular 4-5 mistakes, and almost all of them silly), just checking if same level can be achieved in real GMAT.

in my verbal exam, i thought i had screwed up by the time i reached Question 28, cause 3-4 questions around that were so difficult, i couldn't make head or tail of them. Kaplan verbal is more difficult than the actual GMAT, and the 1000 series is a good indicator. i do not know about the OG. But, for sure the best indicator is the GMAT Prep software.
in quant, i had very similar experiences. in all my practice tests, the most i got was 50, and always with 3-4 stupid mistakes which i should not have made. but in most practice tests, i did not really pace my quant enough, and always finished around 15-20 minutes early. that did not happen on my gmat. i took extra care on each of the first 10 questions, and it was obvious the difficulty was increasing. according to me, there was no question for which i had to think of a method to reach the solution, it was how complex the calculations were and how much time i spent on rechecking. but all of the last 5-6 questions were of decent difficulty level, so that might be an indicator that you've more or less got all correct till then.

Thanks for the reply. I got the quant story quite well Will definitely keep a note while practicing.
I generally follow the principle of practicing the most difficult ones at home so that there are no surprises in the test.
Someone had rightly said - "The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war"

But, in Verbal I am a bit circumspect. I am not so strong in verbal and CR/RC tend to go wrong more often than not.
So i was just checking which tests to follow for actual GMAT-like experience.
