A basket contains 5 apples out of which 1 is spoiled and 4 are good. If Henry is to select 2 apples from the basket simultaneously and at random, what is the probability that the 2 apples selected from the basket will include the spoiled apple?

a. 1/5
b. 3/10
c. 2/5
d. 1/2
e. 3/5

slection could be SG or GS
1/5 * 4/4 + 4/5 * 1/4
= 2/5

All options: select 2 out of 5
Possible options: 1 spoiled selected, now select 1 out of the remaining 4

C1,4 / C2,5 = 4 / (5!/(3!2!) = 4/10 = 2/5
