A bit confused - Need Honest Opinions [#permalink]
12 Aug 2005, 20:00
Hi,
I would like to solicit honest opinions from experts on whether I stand to gain admission in NYU's part-time program and/or Chicago's weekend program. Below is my profile
GMAT 660 (Q49, V31)
Undergraduate GPA = 3.66/4.0 (BS EE - Cum Laude - Texas A&M University)
Graduate GPA = 3.65/4.0 (MS EE - Texas A&M University)
5 years work experience with a major Telecommunications vendor.
Please respond as do not want to take the crazy GMAT again!
Regards
spiderman

Plans after MBA?
Short Term is to secure a senior management business development position in a telecommunication vendor or a service provider.
Long Term: Open a telecommunications consultancy firm.
Why Now?
I would like to move to a senior management business development position with some revenue responsibilty. The time is right now because having attained sufficient technical knowledge in my field, I need the business acumen and management skills that I will need in a business development position. Also, in about three years my kids will be ready to go to pre-school and kindergarten, so I may not be able to do an MBA - this point I am not sure if I should raise it to the admissions committee.?
Please provide your candid views

Based on the info. provided, it sounds like you have a viable chance at both schools. You have a strong undergrad record and a GMAT score that is in range for the PT programs. The critical element is how you will sell your work experience and goals in the context of the admissions essays.
