A certain circular area has its center point P and has a radius 4, and points X and Y lie in the same planse as the circular area. Does point Y lie outside the circular area?

1) The distance between point P and point X is 4.5

2) The distance between point X and point Y is 9

C.

If Y lie inside the circular erea, the distance between point X and Y must be less than 4.5+4= 8.5.
XY=9 while PX is 4.5=> Y lie outside the circle.

i will say A..cause if x is 4.5 away from P..then it is outside of the radius ..

statement 2 in insuff cause x and y could still be on the y=4 and x=4 the distance is 4*sqrt(2) which is greater than 9..but we dont know where x and y are ..with respect to P

Sorry, maybe I misunderstand something.
But, what does "planse" mean?
A just shows us X lies outside of the circle!

Clearly either C or E is the answer
together 1 + 2 : assuming p as the centre PX will be 4.5. As diameter is the largest chord and XY is 9 the locus of point y will always be outside the given circle.
Hence C is the answer

any point from the center must be equidistant on the plane of the circle.
if pX=4.5>4..then definitely q is outside the circle.

(b)insufficient.
XY can either be a tangent or secant to the circle and still be on the circular plane.
