:? A certain clock marks every hour by striking a number of times equal to the hour, and the time required for a stroke is exactly equal to the time interval between strokes. At 6:00 the time lapse between the beginning of the first stroke and the end of the last stroke is 22 seconds. At 12:00, how many seconds elapse between the beginning of the first stroke and the end of the last stroke?

A) 72

B) 50

c) 48

D) 46

E) 44

ok the basic idea is suppose the clock strikes 3 |---|---|
| - the strike and --- - gap the time for both is equal , say - 5 secs
so the timelapse required for the clock to stike 3 5+5+5+5+5 = 25 sec

now, it is given for the clock to stike 6 - the lapse was 22 secs , which means 6 strikes + 5 gaps = 11 ==> 22 sec / 11 = 2 sec for each.

so for the clock to strike 12 - it required 12 stikes and 11 gapz = 46 sec.

so the answer is D
