Re: A certain company has records stored with a record storage [#permalink]

It isn't too hard to figure out how to do this, but the traditional method takes time:

(1) Do 15 x 12 x 10 to get 1800
(2) Divide 1,080,000 by 1800
(3) Multiply by .25

I don't think I can do the graphics here, but the numerator would be 1.08 x 10^6, which I could change to 108 x 10^4.

The denominator would be 15 x 12 x 10 x 4.

The 4 in the denominator takes care of multiplying by .25 at the end.

Then just reduce the way you usually reduce fractions, and it will be easy

A certain company has records stored with a record storage [#permalink]
Volume Per Box: 15x12x10 = 1,800

Total Volume: 1,080,000

Number of Boxes: Total Volume / Volume Per Box = 1,080,000 / 1,800 = 600

Price Per Month: Number of Boxes * Price Per Box = 600 * 0.25 = 150
