A certain office supply store stocks 2sizes of self-stick notepads, each in 4 colours, blue, green, yellow, pink. The store packs the notepads in packages that contain either 3 notepads of the same size and the same colour or 3 notepads of the same size and of 3 different colours.

If the order in which the colours are packed is not considered, how many different packages of the types described above are possible?

A) 6
B) 8
C) 16
D) 24
E) 32

Got stuck on this one! It from a test I took.

We can have 4 packages of same size with same colours and since we have 2 sizes then this yields 8.
then selecting 3 out of 4 in 4 ways and since we have 2 sizes again we have 8 options.
IMO it is 16

Yes, 16 it is
(1) all same color: 4 possibilities: BBB, GGG, YYY, PPP. 2 sizes, so total 8
(2) all different colors: 4C3 combinations for 1 size = 4. For the 2 sizes., 8
And that marks my 100 th post!
