A charitable association sold an average of 66 raffle tickets per member. Among the female members, the average was 70 raffle tickets. The male to female ratio of the association is 1:2. What was the average number of raffle tickets sold by the male members of the association?

66(F+M)=70F+xM
F=2M
=>
66*3M=140M+xM
x=198-140=58

Check, let F=200, M=100
(58*100+70*200)/300=66

Also got 58.

F=# of female, M=# of male, X= male average

F=2M

[(70F+XM)/(F+M)]=66

70F+XM=66(F+M)

70(2m)+XM=66(2M+M)

140M+XM=66(3M) take out M from all terms

140+X=198

X=58

Same logic but using simpler weighted average formula:

x= males

Ratio is 2:1 3 parts

70 (2/3) + X (1/3) = 66

MULTIPLY both sides by 3

140 + x = 198

x= 58
