Each code number was formed from the digits
2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
and no digit appears more than once in any one code number. How many unassigned code numbers
are there?

IMO A.

8x7x6 = 336. So there are 6 left.

I think I should spend more time on combinations, permutations...I am often confused when I face them.

8*7*6 are possible combinations out of which 330 are used => unsused is 6 IMO A

There are 8 numbers to choose from (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

The codes contain 3 of these 8 digits, without repetition

So, the total number of possible codes are 8*7*6 = 336

336 - 330 = 6
