The number of ways to arrange the children if there are two girls and 2 boys (GGBB) is 4!/(2!2!)= 6

Total number of possibilities = 2x2x2x2 = 16

so 6/16 or 3/8

not sure if that's right. I'm sure someone can confirm or set me right!

Got the same
Desired combinations = 4!/(2!*2!) = 6
Total combinations = 2^4 = 16
P = 6/16 = 3/8

If I do this problem as follows, what would it indicate?

Total possible outcomes: 4B, 0G
3B, 1G
2B, 2G
1B, 3G
0B, 4G

Probability = 1/5

I know this is not the answer to the question. But I need to know what would this indicate?

It would indicate that you know nothing about probability, first of all.

Second, it would indicate that one is just as likely to have four girls as s/he is to have two boys and two girls.
