a few questions [#permalink] New post 29 Aug 2008, 12:03
Hi everyone.
I am a recent mba graduate from the Singapore campus of an Australian university. I now want to take the GMAT and try for an mba in usa. Could you please help me with all or some of the following?

1) Is a score of 600 decent enough?? I will try for 650+ though, but it will be tough for me.

2) Is there any website where I can learn how many correct answers corresponding to how much marks. Like if I got 25 right in Quants and the rest wrong…….. then how much would I get? I am looking for a chart. Oh and is there negative marking in GMAT ??

3) Should I get all the reco letters from professors or should there be at least one from a professional referee (my ex boss)

4) Could you name me some ordinary American colleges (B-schools). I do not mind if they are NOT AASCB accredited, as long as that wont be a problem with my Visa chances (I am from India). I am specifically looking for colleges which have Spring/January start dates and have MBA programs which are preferably 1-1.5 years in course duration

5) Is there any internet source you could refer me to, where I could get tips and advice about the Critical Reasoning questions of the verbal section (my weakest section)

That’s it for now. I know that’s a lot of questions for a first post, but please bear with me. Thanks for your time and help.

Hi subho,
If you are already doing MBA then why do you want to go for an US MBA unless you want to go to top 10 Bschool in US.

1. 600 score is decent enough for a tier 2 school but honestly speaking it will not add much value if you are already having a degree.
2. You can give GMATprep test1 and 2 and evaluate where you stand.
3. The reco letter from your professional boss is just a reco letter. What count for adcom is your work experience and career goal.
4.For verbal I would suggest go for MGMAT SC and Powerscore CR bible. They are unbeatable sources for fundamental building
