b2 = hypt2 - height2
b^2 = sqrt(2)^2 - (sqrt(2)/2)^2
b^2 = 2 - 1/2
b^2 = 3/2
b = sqrt(3)/sqrt(2)

1/2 * sqrt(3)/sqrt(2) * sqrt(2)/2

Answer B. Side opposite to 30degree is always helf of the hyp.Since height is y/2 hence angle with the base is 30degree.The base is hence root(3) /2 y..Hence area is SQRT 3 /4

B
(Y/2)^2 + X^2 = Y^2

Since, Y^2 = 2, substitute and simplify:

X = sqrt(3/2)

Area = 1/2*sqrt(3/2)*sqrt(1/2)

= sqrt3/4

base = 2 - (y/2)^2
area = (sqrt(1.5)/2) x (sqrt(2)/2) = sqrt 3/4
